Grandparent portrait present number two

I was back at Golden Acre the very next day after the last family for another present for a proud grandfather. The difference this time was that he was in on the act, having been told about the present on his birthday.  So he came along to have his portrait with the whole family – his daughters and son and the children Alice, Molly, Annie and Sam and a fun time was had by all, especially when it came to the ice-creams…

Hi.

I’m that handsome (ha,ha), proud ‘Grandad’ on the photograph surrounded by my son, daughters and sons-in-law with their beautiful children

What a great selection of photographs, particularly those of Alice, Molly, Annie and Sam. You can see where they get their good looks from! Thanks, Susie.

Fantastic (as usual)! Loving the new processing too :)

What little cuties, they are making me want an ice cream!

Surprise present portrait

Big family group portraits as presents for grandparents is currently my most popular kind of shoot and I did two last weekend alone. My good friend Suzie, who runs fabulous baby massage classes in Leeds called Jelly Babies www.jellybabies.org.uk, wanted a surprise present for her Dad’s 70th birthday.  Her half-sister suggested a family portrait so Catherine brought her husband and gorgeous little girl along to be photographed alongside her brother David and all of Suzie’s family – Alice, Joshua and her husband Stephen.  We had a great time in Golden Acre Park and even though Emily wasn’t for keeping still, I think that adds to the effect and we’ve got some images that will make granddad happy.

You’ve got a real talent for getting wonderful expressions from people – excellent shoot, I bet they love the images!

Laura Silcock - September 20, 2009 - 3:58 pm

what a really really happy family shoot ! i just love the fourth one – what a cheeky grin !

Helen and Ben’s wedding

Second in the series of summer weddings and it’s a good one.  It’s a shame it’s number two in the series really – maybe I’ll let it stay on the top of the home page for a couple of days while I catch up with editing all the others.  Anybody who follows Stewart Randall www.randallphotography.co.uk, who once again valiantly let me second shoot for him, will recognise this wedding.  It was simply fantastic in every way, from the weather to venue – West Stoke House near Chichester – to the drop-dead-gorgeous bride.

Beautiful work! I love them all, but the shot coming out of the church and the portraits of Mr & Mrs in the field are stunning.

Rebecca Honeywell - September 10, 2009 - 1:53 pm

What a stunning set of photographs! I love the one of the bride in the car, and the romantic feel to the one second from last. Great work!

Laura Silcock - September 10, 2009 - 7:01 pm

Wow! You got loads of really gorgeous shots there Susie! Brilliant!!

Jennifer - September 13, 2009 - 6:59 pm

Beautiful images, love the field and B&Ws especially.

gill maheu - September 17, 2009 - 7:37 am

these are gorgeous wedding images – my favourite has to be the one of the helen & ben, 4 from the end, – the quality of light is gorgeous and there is a timelessness about it – you can really see they are lost in the moment.

James Pearson - September 17, 2009 - 3:07 pm

Absolutely beautiful wedding – so many wonderful portraits! I love the summery feel of the second one in the field. The young girl in the pews is fantastic too! Excellent job!

Sarah and John’s wedding

No, I haven’t disappeared off the face of the earth.  But I’m very conscious that I’ve got more than a bit behind with blogging what I’ve been doing over the summer.  I did have a small interlude in France with my family and I’m hoping that next year I may be able to combine this lovely time with photographing some weddings so if anyone knows somebody who’s getting married in the Languedoc next year and would like a British wedding photographer, let me know!  It’s not all been sun and relaxation though.  I’ve been lucky enough to be allowed to second shoot at some fabulous weddings with some of the people that I consider to be the best wedding photographers in the UK.  I was going to do a round-up of images from all these weddings but I’ve got so many images to share I think I need to do them one at a time.  First off is from way back in June when I accompanied Stewart Randall www.randallphotography.co.uk, who has been a huge help and inspiration to me, to Wentworth Castle for the wedding of Sarah and John.  The highlight for me was racing around in a golf buggy with Stewart driving (he didn’t trust me, why ever not?) and me frantically trying to get an in focus shot of Sarah and John on their buggy. The other missing weddings will now follow in quick succession!

Love the shots! Especially the buggy shot (both of them, actually), totally worth hanging on for dear life with Stewart’s crazy driving! Also love the last picture.

Great picture of Stewart working it for the camera too!

Lovely photographs Susie. Well worth the wait. My favourited are the first and second and mr Randall all dressed up. Can’t wait to see the others

James Pearson - September 17, 2009 - 2:55 pm

Very nice photographs; everyone looks really relaxed and like they’re having loads of fun. I really love the final portrait – beautiful composition and location!

Summer portrait

This lovely family was really easy to photograph, even the dog who I swear posed especially for the pictures and smiled beautifully.  The girls are obviously both gorgeous, which always helps but they clearly adore each other as well.  The late afternoon light was perfect and although it may have rained later on everyone’s planned BBQs, I think we got the essence of a perfect summer day in Yorkshire.

Hi Susie

The photos are brilliant – absolutely fantastic photos of the children

Pity the grown ups have to spoil some of them!! Although there is a nice one of Joanne and Steve!

Thanks
Helen
