A Christmas portrait in the garden

Ruth asked me if I could take a beautiful photograph of her three children in time for her to put into her Christmas cards.  She asked me on Saturday!  I’m not sure when last posting day is but I’m sure it’s imminent (I haven’t written a single card yet – sorry if you were expecting one).  Undeterred by challenging timescales, I turned up in their garden on Sunday.  The next tricky bit was the issue of size – her children range in size from a very tall Sam who is 17, through to Davey who is 13 and Tamsin who is just five. Clearly standing in a row wasn’t going to work.  Finally, they were all really cooperative and lovely but few teenage boys enjoy posing for a picture and though they hid it well I don’t think Sam and Davey were thrilled by the prospect.  So thank goodness for Tamsin who wanted to have her photograph taken and was full of helpful suggestions and fun.  She made it come alive.
