Charlotte and Rob have been coming to this lovely spot near Uzes in France on holiday for years. They asked the villa owners if they could get married there and with the help of their wonderful family and friends, they made the most gorgeous DIY wedding in France you could imagine.
Their characterful, newly-renovated 2CV Edith was due to make a star appearance but on the drive down, she decided she’d rather stay in Paris where she originally came from. A hire car had to make the rest of the trip and a kindly neighbour in the village of Euzet offered the use his own 2CV for the day. I’m pleased to report that Edith has made a full recovery and is back home in the UK where going to other weddings might slightly make up for the fact that she missed her owners’ big day!
It was brilliant how everyone mucked in with decorating the table and everything looked so pretty and fresh. From the copious bunting to the vibrant flowers and the collection of vintage bottles they were displayed in, it was all brought down in cars from the UK or collected locally in France and to create a really effective look totally in keeping with the location. It’s surprisingly easy to make a DIY wedding in France come together to be a dream day. Charlotte and Rob’s was a small personal wedding made absolutely perfect by the huge love between the two of them and the people they gathered around them. The moment when Charlotte and Rob saw each other at the start of the ceremony was very emotional and lovely as they both just burst into tears.
As usual for this part of France, the light and the setting made the creating the photography such a joy for me. But mostly of course I loved this wedding for the people and the emotion.
