Jo and Jonny’s French weekend of wedding celebrations – part one

Jo and Jonny’s nuptials took a whole weekend of wedding celebrations. Most of the ‘weddings’ I photograph in France are in fact not technically weddings, they are blessings and celebrations and the actual legal part has usually already happened in the couple’s normal country of residency. Jo and Jonny are fortunate in that Jonny’s lovely mother is a vicar and happens to live in a village in France (with a ridiculously long name as you can see below). So Jo and Jonny were given permission to legally marry in France. The first day that I photographed was their legal ceremony in the town hall or mairie as they’re known in France, followed by a drinks reception at the family home and then a meal at a lovely restaurant on a wine domaine not far away in Roullens, the Domaine Michaud. Check back here soon for day two, an even more picturesque church and chateau event. And another divine dress for Jo!
