Wedding photography in Lancashire in a pub by a river

Sarah and Jon found this lovely venue for their wedding in Lancashire in the village of Sawley. The Spread Eagle has a fabulous function room that with windows that frame the view of the river and the dales beyond. It’s a lovely place for photography, a quintessentially English pub in a fab setting.

Jon almost escaped when a bus arrived as the boys were having a pint while the bride and her bridesmaids finished getting ready. He wasn’t really going to go. I think he felt like the luckiest man in the world when he saw Sarah.

The ruined abbey would have made the perfect place for the portraits but when we got there after the ceremony, we found someone had locked it up early that day! Not to be deterred, Sarah and Jon were really sporting and put their trust in me when I suggested we clamber over a stile into the field behind it instead. I put my foot in a cow pat in the process. But it was all worth it…
